Her mother is of Spanish and English origin. The four siblings of Taylor-Joy are from her father's former marriage. They were originally from Buenos Aires, but moved to Victoria in the year she turned 6. Taylor Joy stated that moving from Buenos Aires, to Victoria was a struggle as she was unable to learn English, hoping to go back to Argentina. The school she attended had to be changed between Northlands in order to attend Hill House. Then she went to Queen's Gate School, where she studied dance and performed in shows. After she turned 16, she left school to make a career of acting. From a young age Taylor-Joy was aware of her desire to become an actress and her dreams came true when she was offered a modeling job from Sarah Doukas the founder of Storm Management.
